The Bible Is...

One of my newer poems.  I hope you like it.

The Bible Is...


To lost men wand’ring in the dark, the Bible offers light.
To all the weak, defenseless souls it offers all God’s might
To those who hunger for the Truth it offers heaven’s bread
And tells of how God’s only Son was offered in their stead.
To those who labor, burdened down, it offers them sweet rest
And in it all the least of these are offered heaven’s best
To those whose lives are filled with pain, it offers them relief
It offers hope to those who mourn and comfort in their grief.
To those who find themselves enchained with shackles on their soul
It offers liberty and peace and the chance to be made whole.
God’s Word assures us of His love and warns us of the cost
Of following our own way and finding ourselves lost
It tells us that He sent His Son to perish in our place
And offers us eternal life based fully on His Grace.
It is a Handbook for our lives, a Map for our life’s quest,
A Mirror that reveals the soul, and the Key to every test.
But most of all this sacred book, sent down from heav’n above
Is a personal letter, pure and sweet, that tells us of God’s love.
